The project is being developed by a consortium involving partners from 5 countries of the Atlantic Area (Ireland, UK, France, Portugal, and Spain). There are representatives from regional and local competent agencies and authorities as well as research centres and an international organisation. Furthermore, it is being supported by an Advisory Body comprising key authorities and experts from the participating countries.

Apart from carrying out research in ecology and evolution of species interactions (especially in pollination biology, seed dispersal and biological invasions), the Group of Plant Ecology and Evolution in the University of Vigo is also interested in scientific divulgation through innovative technologies. It has achieved international awards in Scientist Film Festivals. This activity ranges from the creation of websites specialized in E-learning that combine teaching units, with quiz games, or test, to Flash animations or 3D video.

Among other competences, the Andalusian Regional Ministry for Justice and Interior is the regional organization that develops the Emergency Plan for coastal pollution in Andalusia (PECLA). Its principal purpose is to establish the organizational structure and operating procedures for an adequate response to emergency situations in which coastal pollution originates in the region of Andalusia, ensuring greater effectiveness and coordination in the operation of the means and resources.

Apart from teaching and other educational labours, the main activities of the Research Group “Physical Oceanography: Dynamics” (Department of Applied Physics, University of Cadiz) are focused on the study of hydrodynamic processes in ocean and coastal waters. The group has wide experience in the numerical modelling of oceanographic processes including tidal dynamics, wind-waves and wind-wave-tide interaction, internal waves, turbulence, sediment transport processes, operational oceanography, coastal morphodynamics, coastal engineering and many related features, as well as field data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation.

The Centre for Radiation, Chemicals and Environmental Hazards (CRCE) is a specialist resource of the Public Health England. It provides advice, research and services to protect the public from hazards resulting from exposure to chemicals and poisons, radiation both ionising and non-ionising and ultrasound and infrasound. The Centre also leads for PHE on public health effects of climate change and extreme environmental events such as flooding. CRCE (Wales) is part of the UK’s emergency planning and preparedness structure for chemical incidents, whether accidental or deliberate and provides advice and support to government, emergency services, local authorities and health professionals on the acute and chronic health effects of environmental chemicals.
