The works being carried out in the frame of ARCOPOLplatform on this issue consist of the capitalization and perpetuation of the previously developed work on spill modelling. Specifically, the actions programmed focus on improving:

• Stakeholders’ confidence regarding the application of the developed modelling systems;
• The capacity of the numerical modelling software itself;
• The accuracy and quality of model results for specific regions, making use of existing observation tools;
• The sharing of available modelling tools between participating regions so as to increase the general preparedness in the Atlantic Area
